2010 - The Year Ahead for Michiana Raceway Park |
NORTH LIBERTY, IN (February 15, 2010) – After yet another successful season for Michiana Raceway Park, Garry Lobaugh and his team have laid down the foundation for an even better year in 2010. With three major events to start the year, including the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup on May 1st and twelve MRP Championship Series races including its own Rotax Max Challenge Series as well as plenty of Rock Kart events for the casual racer, the 2010 racing year at Michiana Raceway Park is primed to be one of the best yet.
“I’m looking forward to the new year of racing at Michiana Raceway Park,” said Track Manager, Rob Huffmaster. “This past off-season we had numerous meetings with the goal of developing new and creative ways to bridge the gap from the casual racer to the serious racer and find a way to bring more racers to the track. I believe our new Step 1 series and Oval racing leagues will more than accomplish what we sought out to do.”
For 2010, the MRP Championship Series will also be adding two new classes to the mix. First, oval racing will now be a part of each race day event at Michiana Raceway Park with a new clone oval class that will offer an affordable racing option that supplies that “side-by-side thrill” oval racers are seeking. The increasingly popular “Step 1” class will also be joining the race day as an “arrive & drive” series designed to provide a safe and cost effective way to race. Be sure to bookmark www.MichianaRacewayPark.com for more information on both our new classes and how you can join in on the fun.
Rock Kart racing at Michiana Raceway Park has become a favorite of many casual racers. “Rock Karts” are 9-horsepower racing karts designed to provide a wheel-to-wheel racing experience with an emphasis on safety. Michiana Raceway Park has laid out plans for the best year yet for Rock Kart racing with the addition of a Rock Kart Oval League every Wednesday night starting May 5th through October 27th. Also, the normal Rock Kart league will continue to take place on Thursday nights running from May 6th thru October 28th. Both leagues will start at 6:00 PM on their respective nights. As an added benefit, FREE Rock Kart schools are available on Tuesday nights throughout the year.
Michiana Raceway Park will also host four major Rock Kart championship events, starting with the 2nd Annual Rock Kart Spring Sprints on March 27th. Designed to kick off the 2010 season, the Spring Sprints is a great event to shake of the rust from the off-season and get back into the racing groove. Then, on June 12th, Michiana Raceway Park will host the first ever Rock Kart Summer Sprints. Modeled after the Spring Sprints, this championship event will take advantage of the warm weather and make for a fun summer Saturday for all the racers.
The third major Rock Kart championship event of the season will be the third annual Rock Kart World Finals on September 18th. The RKWF’s brings out the best racers from the whole year of Rock Kart racing with the title as the fastest man in a Rock Kart on the line. Finally, the last major Rock Kart championship event of the 2010 season will be the sixth annual Rock Kart Halloween Endurance event on October 31st. The Halloween Endurance is a great way to end the year with a three-hour endurance race filled with teams of three to five drivers. Keep in mind that for any of our Rock Kart events or leagues, NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!
Michiana Raceway Park also plays host to MRP Speed Schools, which is geared up for another exciting year with more talented and experienced race instructors than ever before.
